Zac rapping...

Can't embed but hilarious must-watch interview with Newshub HERE.

From Adam with LA Times
Devine insists that the jabs about his looks — a recurring theme in many of his roles — don’t actually cut that deep. Efron is, after all, “stunning.”

“I don’t know if I’ll ever get People’s Sexiest Man, and I think Zac is on the short list for that one,” said Devine, finishing his beer. “I tried to get in shape for the movie, and Zac saw how hard I was working and he’s such a sweetheart, he, like, slowed down his workouts. He stopped working out, basically, to have me catch up a little bit. I don’t think it worked, really, but it was pretty sweet of him to do.”

Ivan Reitman talks about Baywatch starting at 10:35 here.

The Greatest Showman on Earth

From CineEurope via THR:
Much of the time was spent on The Greatest Showman, the Hugh Jackman-fronted musical biopic of legendary U.S. circus owner and entertainment businessman P.T. Barnum. Although the project has yet to go into production, director Michael Gracey was onstage to walk the audience through his vision of a film he said would be a "return to the classic film musical." He likened it to West Side Story, Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music.

Concept art and musical numbers were unveiled, as well as videos of Jackman and the team in rehearsals (one of which took place the day after the actor had an operation and defied the wishes of a doctor who said he shouldn't sing).

Casting via THR:
Michelle Williams is in talks to join Hugh Jackman in Fox's The Greatest Showman.
Zendaya is in negotiations to join the high-wattage cast of The Greatest Showman, Fox’s musical focusing on P.T. Barnum, the founder of the circus that became the famous traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Michael Gracey is directing the project, which has Zac Efron and Michelle Williams in negotiations to join Hugh Jackman, who has spent years developing the project. Michael Arndt, who wrote the screenplay for Toy Story 3, is penning the script.

Jackman is playing Barnum while Efron will portray a playwright who becomes Barnum’s right-hand man. Williams will play Jackman’s love interest.

Zendaya will play a trapeze artist Efron's character falls for.

Broadwayworld and a few other outlets reported that Zac is singing in the background of a new song called "Shut Up."

More info:
Iman and Siham Hashi, better known as FAARROW, are back with another look into their debut EP this Friday in a new song called "Shut Up." The new song follows the former refugees' defiant and autobiographical title-track "Lost " which was also produced and co-written by actor and music producer Elijah Kelley (THE WIZ LIVE, HAIRSPRAY). Kelley's friend and former Hairspray co-star Zac Efron attended the session and can be heard on the resounding chorus of the song.

From an interview of Faarrow with Lennyletter
IH: I feel like if you listen to it you're going to feel like you can do anything and be able to tell the naysayers to shut up. Elijah Kelly, who's our producer and also cowrote the song, was in the studio with his friend Zac Efron (he's also an actor, and they were in Hairspray together), and he was so inspired and amped up! He was like, "You guys, this song is so amazing!" and going crazy in the studio. It was really cool.

If I was to write an article for The Onion, it would be titled, "Zac Efron Tries to Convince World He's Not Cool."

Too bad nobody believes him.

“I’m totally not cool,” he says. Sitting in a black leather jacket, faded black jeans and combat-styled Dr. Martens, Zac takes a swig from his performance drink, aptly entitled “The Beast”. “I’m really a nerd, a dork. Growing up, I liked to play ‘Call of Duty,” and skateboard to the Dead Kennedys. See this haircut? My mom loves it. Yesterday in the grocery store I overheard a guy telling his son how I looked like a proper young man.”

Zac has just finished “Baywatch” in which he plays an uber-fit surfer dude turned lifeguard who must swim in a school of sharks to rescue a young lady. “Sharks are cool,” he says, leaning back and propping his foot up on the table. His jeans are quad-shaped. “I grabbed a fin and rode one for a while. No big deal.”

When he’s not working on his bro-films, the muscular but compact actor can be found surfing, hand gliding, snowboarding, sky diving and even bungee jumping. His latest trip to Africa was especially rewarding. “I ran with the buffalo and swam with the alligators, but the best part was sticking my head in this lion’s mouth.” A grin crosses his face. “It was epic, but really, nerds do this all the time…when they aren’t reading.”

This is funny and perfect. Well done.

Well, I think I know what he means when he claims that he isn't cool. He doesn't feel cool. He is a nerd on the inside. One of his early interviewers explained: Coolness implies effortlessness, while Zac Efron is all effort. So he sees himself trying so hard to do all these cool things, and he isn't convinced.

My response to him would be, "I should be so uncool."

Doesn't find it easy to talk to women? Come on, Zac, why would you ever need to talk to women? Just stand there, look them in the eyes, maybe display a bit of a smile, and hold out your room key.

I can relate. I don't know how to talk to women either. As a group, they're a pretty boring lot, except for the tomboys and lesbians, with whom one can talk about anything one would talk to a guy about, and the intellectuals, who can be bat-shit crazy. Intellectual women, for some reason, lack the ability to keep their emotions out of a debate, and so they inevitably go off , implying you are evil or stupid or both (usually because they have no answer to your argument). I have deep, abiding scars from intellectual women. Perhaps this is why I just avoid my gender completely.

In any case, guys are a lot easier, a lot more reasonable, and less likely to stab you when you turn your back.

I am pleased to note that Mike & Dave remained in the Top Five for its second weekend, which is pretty good considering the heavy competition.

On an earlier page, an interviewer mentioned that Zac had green eyes. I've never seen such an assertion before. Was she color-blind, or have we all been missing something for lo these many years?

Random news
After just 20 days in release, Mike & Dave has grossed a total of $50.9 million at the worldwide box office, so in the end this movie should turn a comfortable profit. Check another one in Zac's plus column.

Meanwhile, I saw a report that The Greatest Show will begin production in October, which should keep Zac busy through the end of the year. Hopefully, we'll get some photo ops from that. Otherwise, we have the Long March to the Baywatch release in May and Greatest Show in December.

When are the rumors going to start about Zac's next love interest? Does he still have a dog to take out walking as his wing man?
