New comedy: 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates'
From Variety:
Zac Efron to Star in Fox and Chernin Comedy ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’

Zac Efron is set to star in Fox and Chernin Entertainment’s “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.”

Jake Szymanski is on to direct with Peter Chernin, David Ready and Jenno Topping producing for Chernin along with Jonathan Levine. Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien penned the script.

Story follows two brothers who place an online ad to find dates for a wedding and the ad goes viral.

Daria Cercek is overseeing the project for Fox.

Chernin and the studio will now look to fill the role of Efron’s brother and is hopeful this film has similar results it saw when it teamed Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy up for “The Heat."

As of now the movie has a release date set for 29 July 2016.

Can you tell me what does it mean ".....Need Wedding Dates"? They try to find some girls to go to any wedding with?

Yes. They need a date as company to go to someone else's wedding.

Thank U.
Tell me please Bee, Fox studio this is the film studio 20th Century Fox? Or is it a different company?

Yes. Fox is short for 20th Century Fox* (similar as people say Uni for Universal Pictures or WB for Warner Brothers).

* Fox has also a subsidiary Fox 2000 which produces some movies... that's similar to New Line and WB but here it means 20th Century Fox.

The idea that anybody that looks like Zac would have to go online to get a date is laughable, but I'll engage in "the willing suspension of disbelief" as Coleridge says, for the sake of art.

It's not because they can't get dates. It's because they don't want to give the women they are casually dating the idea this is going anywhere serious. So they decide to just get themselves someone new instead so they don't have any obligations.

Wait a minute. I think I've seen this one before. Let me guess: after the casual date the guy pursues the new girl unrelentingly, buys her expensive wine and flowers, tries to buy her other stuff but she refuses, saying thanks but I-won't-let-you-buy-me. Then, just as she is starting to allow herself to have feelings for him, he returns to the original girl because he does not know how to function in a relationship that does not involve purchasing and owning a woman like a piece of real estate.

Yeah, I've seen that one before.

Nope, not as far as I know. What happens is that the dates they got themselves online turn out to be bigger messes then themselves.

Idk how it continues but idt it is a romcom. It's more Wedding Ringer than TAM (based on my limited understanding).

Here is a bit more from an earlier article:
[Spoiler (click to open)]
The project is based on the true story of Mike and Dave Stangle, brothers from Albany, New York, who attempted to find a wedding date for a cousin's nuptials by placing an ad on Craigslist.

The endeavor went viral, and the brothers soon found themselves on morning news shows. A book deal with Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery followed (slated for publication in 2015) as did Hollywood interest.

The movie version (naturally) amps up the mayhem by having the hard-partying and immature brothers putting out an ad for dates and coming across a pair of honeys that can out-party and out-immature our slovenly heroes.

LMAO. Sounds like a typical Craigslist date. Or Grindr, except the messes come w something extra. I've always wanted to troll Grindr and set up something with a guy and be like "surprise!" when the door opens, except I'd probably get my ass kicked or a new bestie.

That should be a movie because it's never happened in real life or in film.

i'm really excited and hopeful about the female roles tbh... chernin did so great with the heat and spy looks great too. the only thing that would buoy my hope even more was paul feig involved somewhere but we know the writers should get it now, after neighbors and rose.
