Roundup - Forbes 30 Under 30, Slate mentions, More Casting
Most awesomely, Zac was included on Forbes 30 Under 30 for Hollywood and Entertainment:

Also, we've seen Neighbors and Zac get some great mentions on end-of-2014 lists and two critics at Slate gave Zac some cool praise too, Amy Nicholson:
Am I alone in predicting future Oscars for Zac Efron? He can sing, dance, and act. He can clue you into what his characters are too shallow to notice. And more importantly, he’s game to take bold risks (even though he didn’t take any this year). He was marvelous in Neighbors as a preening frat boy, and emerged unscathed from the sex comedy That Awkward Moment, which criminally squandered a crop of young talents with great potential: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Imogen Poots and Mackenzie Davis. A decade from now, when Efron is accepting his statuette for The Paperboy 2, That Awkward Moment could be an ironic touchstone of millennial Hollywood, the equivalent of us sniggering that Academy Award winners Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey once co-starred in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.

And Stephanie Zacharek:
Wow, you guys have laid so much groundwork already! Which thread to chase down next? Amy, I’m with you on Zac Efron: He’s a totally charming presence, and the fact that he can sing and dance must not be wasted. Why, oh, why can’t we have more movie musicals—ones that are not Sondheim-derived? (My extreme distaste for Sondheim is something we can discuss later in the week. Or not.)

Some cute throwback pics

Last but not least, Dermot Mulroney was cast in Dick Kelly/Dirty Grandpa/Whatever as Zac's dad, he's always adorbs. There are some other potential castings that should be verified soon as filming is set to begin January 12 and should go through February 19. Although tbh, there are indications they are casting background for January 8 but I am guessing that is for second unit stuff maybe... maybe not, who knows, lol. But regardless, ZAC STARTS FILMING SOON, YAY.

It's great that Zac made the Forbes list even if it is "just a list." I feel it is a bigger accomplishment for him to be on it now than it would have been during his HSM heydays because it's a testament for his staying power and not being the hot new thing.

Also yeah for Amy & Stephanie being confident in Zac. Also loved Germain's tweet on that topic.

I don't find Dermot particularly memorable but I guess he's ok and the role isn't particularly big anyway. Absolutely agree about the enthusiasm for filming to start. Filming is always an awesome time.

"... it's a testament for his staying power"

Which is amazing. Poor Zac, after the HSM years, he thought the fan and paparazzi hysteria would fade away with time, he just had to be patient. It didn't happen, at least not yet. Let's watch the Dirty Grandpa shoot to see if Mirandagirll's hopes are fulfilled. I hope not, I want to see that Zac still has the power to drive fans wild. Does that make me a bad person? Yes, probably.

Keep it coming! I can read praise for Zac all day. It's good he was chosen for the Forbes list, but I don't like the fact that they see him as a "re-invented" comedy star; they ignore all his dramatic roles in the years between.

I needed this pick-me-up after learning overnight that J. Bieber is the new Calvin Klein spokesmodel. I think we all know who would have been a better choice. Zac promoted CK for years with his low-slung pants, which always revealed a CK waistband, and now this is his reward. (My imagined explanation is that they offered Zac the gig but he turned them down, thinking underwear ads might not be compatible with his career arc as a movie star.)

WTF??!!!! Is he blowing the CEO or something?

I can't see him doing underwear modeling anyway. For him it would be a step down, I think. For us, it would be the best thing to happen since Jesus Christ.

PS: I think we should send Justin Bieber to North Korea. Then we'd be even.

"WTF??!!!! Is he blowing the CEO or something?"

Maybe. But he does have a very good body for this kind of gig (except that the extensive tattooing masks his musculature in some areas).

I know I shouldn't want Zac to demean himself doing underwear ads, but I have already admitted that I am not always an entirely good person.

I have high hopes fans won't be unbearable in trying to stalk the set in Atlanta.

The average daily temperature in L.A. fell 10 degrees over the weekend, proof that Zac must have departed Saturday evening or Sunday morning and taken his hotness with him. Hopefully, Atlanta will now warm up.
