Zac up for something at Marvel?
From Latino-Review:
Here’s a BARE BONES post that is just split into facts and speculation.

“Neighbors,” an R-Rated Zac Efron/Seth Rogen comedy, beat the crap out of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” at the box office and the mega franchising gods at Walt Disney heard the other foot drop: “It’s time to Efron up.”

We can exclusively report that Zac Efron is being looked at for unspecified role in an upcoming Marvel Studios project. He was given a script for the project just recently and currently no one knows which part is actually in play. The only one that knows that answer is his Manager and he will not comment on it.

[Some speculation about which role it could be]... At this point, it’s all speculation. What’s not speculation is Marvel wants Efron, like everyone wants Efron, because “Neighbors” is hot.

Disney declined to comment.

I don't know a lot of the characters they mention in their speculation, but briefly reading up on them, the one that seems most interesting to me is Nova. But who knows? Wait and see :)

I don't consider them very reliable. But they have been right on several superhero casting news in recent years. And I think there's actually a big chance some studios are courting Zac to play in superhero flicks now. I've been saying it for years, and Zac is perfect for superhero roles. He's funny, charming, energetic, and has that "magnetic vulnerability" which makes people sympathize with him. The only thing that kept him from getting these roles was a disapproval from superhero fanboys, but after Neighbors I see a lot of these fanboys supporting Zac.

for me it's hard to say they are reliable or not. i think they post a lot of info that may be correct but is from so early in the process that it falls through or changes. but they definitely have legit sources.

Can Zac hurry up and be older then? ya know, for reasons

Too Young
Agreed. I'm a big DC fan as a well a fan of Zac's. But every incarnation of Strange that I have seen is of an older man (usually 50s or 60s). Maybe they'd be trying to go for something different, but I just can't quite picture how...

"Zac Efron is being looked at for unspecified role in an upcoming Marvel Studios project. He was given a script for the project just recently..."

But this is what happens every week. Many actors are being "looked at" for various roles. Scripts are sent around. Meetings are held. In the end, of course, 90 percent of these transactions don't pan out, except for the one actor who gets cast.

This would explain some of that Star Wars sizzle we had awhile back. No doubt, Zac was being "looked at" for some role in that project, like 30 or 40 other young male actors, so he didn't deny the possibility when he was asked, but he didn't confirm it either. There had been some talk, maybe a meeting, but nothing came from it.

What concerns me is his recent statement, that he really doesn't need to work right now and he's passing on some opportunities and focusing on his own development projects. That means he could piss away this moment when everyone thinks he's hot and spend the next two years playing with himself, producing a movie that doesn't get major distribution.

While we're talking about his own development projects, let me remind him of Mel Brooks' sage advice: "Never put your own money into the show!"

My sage advice would be for him to sleep with the right people at Warner or Universal to ensure that they pick up his movie for wide release.

I really hope your joking with your last sentence ?

Well, yes. I'm joking a little all the time. But the Hollywood "casting couch" is notorious. I'm just suggesting that, if that's how Hollywood works, then Zac should take it to the higher, management, level and get his indie production into wide release through one of the major studios. I offer this advice because, of course, Zac would be a highly desirable partner for studio bosses of either gender. He's been showing off what he's got on the MTV Awards and in Neighbors; maybe he could put those valuable assets to more practical use.

"...his recent statement, that he really doesn't need to work right now..."

In one of the interviews, it's stated that he did take a lower upfront performance fee in exchange for a share of the back-end action. With Neighbors projected to earn $240 million worldwide, this means that Zac can hope to gain some millions of dollars. Woohoo!

That's why I quoted Mel Brooks about not putting your own money into a show. Zac's superpower is charm, so he should use it to entice Arab investors into financing his development projects and not squander his personal fortune.

*He [could] spend the next two years playing with himself*

That's fine with me as long as I get to watch. (-;

Seriously, I think he's done enough time on the couch. It happens, and I'm sure it's happened to him. I just don't want him to have to do that anymore (though I know in HW people change beds like they change underwear).

If the prettiest boy on earth, Colton Haynes, can play Red Arrow then the cutest boy on earth, Zac Efron, can play a superhero.

(Arrow is the best damn show on tv in 20 years, btw. I'm a hardcore Arrow junkie.)
