Nice to see them do Unscripted. And I'm looking forward to Grimmy.

Box Office Mojo has posted its summer predictions, and Neighbors rates Number 9:

"9. Neighbors (May 9): Seth Rogen is coming off one of his biggest hits yet in This is the End, and that well-received comedy has been highlighted in Neighbors marketing. More importantly, though, Neighbors has a great comedic set-up that's front-and-center in all of Universal's advertising ("Family Vs. Frat"). It's also well-positioned as the first R-rated comedy in a Summer that's full of them. Finally, positive early reviews suggest the kind of word-of-mouth that can take a comedy hit to the next level. (Domestic: $140 million, Foreign: $65 million)"

However, The Amazing Spider-Man is listed at Number Six, and it opens one week before Neighbors. I will be spitting mad if Spider spills over into first place a second time on Our Weekend.

Oh Well
I don't even think it is fair to compare the potential of the two. Action movies usually make a lot more money than comedies. I think the best way to look at it is that this movie will probably be the most successful comedy of the summer. I don't think coming in at number one is really all that important.

Re: Oh Well
I'm not comparing the potential box office loot of Spider-Man and Neighbors. The flashy blockbuster will obviously do better. And it has its own opening weekend to dominate.

All I'm asking is that Neighbors be number one at the box office on its opening weekend. TAM would have done better if two big movies didn't roll over from the previous week and hog first and second place.

It's important. Being number one on opening weekend garners attention from movie-goers, reviewers, industry bigwigs. Starring in the number one movie that weekend will earn extra points for Zac, and that's what I want. Zac will receive no benefit at all if Spider-Man is number one for two weeks in a row.

Re: Oh Well
Yeah, it definitely helps to be number one for sure. I just think it will be really successful regardless. I think people excited for this movie should be grateful our culture likes filth and stupidity enough to make it a success.

Neighbors will most likely be only #2 at the box office. A lot of things would have to happen for it to become #1. Not entirely impossible but unlikely. That was clear from the day the date was set though.

jeezbee You can question? Do you know why Universal, did so many pre screening for the "Neighbors"?

This is part of the marketing campaign to build word-of-mouth.

There are always ~some~ advance screenings for studio movies but those are often the screenings they do for critics and media and just fill them with regular people. In a case like Neighbors where the screenings are very positive with really good word-of-mouth and also a target audience which tends to use social media a lot, studios often have many more screenings to get the word out.

Okay, thank you.

I apologize for my illiteracy. Wrong first question... :)
