Actually, the very BEST exercise for one's ass - I can say this from experience - is a combination of a squat/deadlift. Squat down and pick up the loaded bar on the floor, then press up, focusing on targeting the glutes/hamstrings. Do about 10-12 of these for a set of 3 (you only pick up the bar once; the rest of the time it's in hand) and you'll walk funny.

In two weeks my ass goes from sad to very happy.
