Adam talks about Zac and soup
From US Weekly:
Zac Efron is recovering from a broken jaw with stitches -- and soup through a straw, his pal Adam Shankman tells Us Weekly!

As previously reported, the hunky actor had his mouth wired shut after a nasty fall at his L.A. home last weekend. Director, producer and choreographer Shankman, who previously worked with Efron on Hairspray, told Us he is among those nursing the 25-year-old star during his recuperation.

"I have been at his house every day and I have been making him soup. He has been drinking it through his straw," Shankman spilled to Us on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the 6th annual GO GO Gala in L.A. "He has to eat through a straw on a syringe. It’s horrible."

The frequent So You Think You Can Dance judge added that he has been making soups "from scratch" for the injured actor. "He's like my little brother, has been since Hairspray," Shankman explained. "So I talk to him like a little brother, which means I give him a lot of sh-t." His special concoctions, meanwhile, have been created with a "Vitamix, baby" boasted Shankman, who whipped up "a beautiful cream of asparagus" for Efron.

The Lucky One lead's mishap follows a rocky year, including a rehab stint this past spring. And despite Efron's inability to speak, Shankman told Us that the Hollywood heartthrob is being a good sport about his current physical condition: "He’s in great sprits. He’s just like, 'Oww. It hurts.'"

How did he manage to take a spill anyway? "He has always been a klutz," joked Shankman. "This is like a perfect Zac move."

That's nice of Adam. Perhaps Zac bothers now to learn a little bit cooking since he can't really go out to eat.

Perhaps his new next door neighbor Adam Fogelson can stop by too... since he's out at Uni, he should have some time. And Zac can use any industry support he can get.

Former chairman at Universal. He was a victim of the recent reorganisation in September at the studio and afaik has no new job yet (no surprise since there are only a handful studio-boss jobs on this planet). Perhaps they can bond a bit, like playing golf since they both have some free time right now (yeah, that's probably wishful thinking but no harm done).

Hopefully Zac realizes that having loud parties next to Fogelson isn't a good idea. As actor, you don't want to piss him off since he's likely going to end up at some studio again. Not that Zac should have parties anymore anyway but perhaps that's another factor to keep in mind. ;)

"And Zac can use any industry support he can get."

I'm thinking that Adam Shankman's example will inspire more of Zac's colleagues to pitch in. For example, perhaps Leslie Mann will stop by to give him a pedicure, and Michelle Pfeifer can come over in the evening to give him his bath and read a bedtime story before tucking him in.

I'd imagine he is probably so tired of soup already. My parents both worked for a soup company and trust me, it gets old fast.

It's so nice of Adam to help out. I'm kinda surprised he didn't go home but it's nice to see he and Adam are still so close.

I'd be perfectly happy if I never ate soup again. I'm sure Zac will too once this is over

if zac's jaw is wired shut, how does he talk or can he talk? and would his doctors give him any meds due to his struggles in the past? like how does that all work for his doctor whos patience is a recovering addict?

He can talk. Try it. Clamp your teeth together and speak. You have to enunciate more forcefully, and your open vowel sounds will be muted, and your "th" sound will be difficult, but it's really not hard to understand.

The real danger is vomiting.

they have non-opioid painkillers but if he really needs something stronger, they'd probably give it to him but doctors would monitor him closely. hopefully they can avoid that though.

Yeah I agree. I never understood cocaine addiction (but I'm as nervous as a jack rabbit by nature) but I do love me some hydrocodone! They should keep that stuff far, far away from Zac, and from me, lol.

Zac needs to realize that he was carved by God's own hands (no subcontracted angels here) and suffused with an abundance of talent. Therefore, when he hurts himself-either through his addiction or a fall-he is defacing God's masterpiece.

Michael D'Angelo's "David" pales in comparison. Yes, the statue is, in a sense, eternally beautiful (it will never age; it can only be destroyed), but it does not live or breathe or move. It is not capable of love or acts of beauty. David is the peak of man's created beauty but Zac is one peak of God's created beauty.

The Greeks thought that a beautiful boy pointed to that which was supremely beautiful: philosophy. In a similar way the purpose of God's art is to point to that which is the highest good, truth, and beauty. Our society is filled with every evil, with wickedness, hate and murder. Zac is not divine, but he is a symbol of the divine on earth. He gives us a momentary reprieve from the ugliness in the world, he inspires us, he signifies God's mercy and benevolence. In short, God does not make art to bless the receiver of talents, but to bless the world with the receiver.

Therefore, Zac does not own himself to do with himself and his talents whatever he wishes. He is morally and ethically obliged to be a point of light and beauty to the rest of us. When he destroys himself and defaces his beauty, he is not only giving God a giant middle finger, he is giving the rest of us a middle finger as well. He is essentially saying, "You don't matter. I don't care if I inspire you, am a moment of beauty in your otherwise despicable life. It's all about me."

If he doesn't wish to be supremely selfish, he needs to take better care of himself, to stay out of harms way, to avoid things that would destroy him, and to draw near things that will improve him.

And that's my Aesthetic Theology in a nutshell.

Or, from a less philosophical perspective: He's really hot and needs to be jumped on.

I make great butternut squash soup. But it may be a little thick to get it thru the syringe/straw.
