From Latino Review:
Disney conspicuously kept Star Wars out of this year’s Comic-Con slate only to have it at it’s own annual D23 Expo, which is about three weeks away, August 9-11 in Anaheim.

The studio is working to produce a Star Wars: Episode VII and continue the story of where 1983′s Episode VI: Return of the Jedi left off. Production on the seventh film in the series will start next year in the UK.

Star Wars cast announcements are speculated to be on the horizon at this year’s D23.

About a two months ago my source informed me that they were going to start filming in Pinewood, but I really never paid any mind to it and now it ends up being true that they will indeed film there. I was also told that a MAJOR film star went in for a meeting, that star was Leo DiCaprio. And now I’m told that he’s out.

A little while ago I was told that two names have been thrown around a lot, and that another star went in last week.

The two stars are none other than…

As for what role Efron would be playing, we don’t know. He could be a Solo kid. But what I was told for sure is the Gosling went in for Skywalker’s son. Yes, that’s right Luke’s kid.

His jedi dreams might come true though, lol

yes. but who knows how serious it is. actors have a lot of meetings that turn into nothing.

How is it that 3 out of 4 of my faves all wanted in on this??? Lol

They should do everyone a favor and put Zac, Ryan, and Leo in the movie together :D

Zac in the new Star Wars movie directed by J.J.Abrams co-starring with Ryan Gosling? That's too good to be true. lol I won't believe it until more reliable source reports it.

I'm with you on the credibility issue. "...two names have been thrown around a lot..." doesn't even mean Our Guy took a meeting; and who's throwing these names around? This story is totally unsourced. Still, makes a nice wet dream for Zac fans.

Haha clever Zac. Causally wearing a Jedi tee around the time you took a meeting with them. I like the way you work. ;)

He wore a Mickey Mouse t-short to the HSM auditions, and that worked for him, so maybe he will seal this deal too. Dress for success!

Boy'z got Skillz
He's got skills with that fake lifesaber, and he looks more like Luke Skywalker than anybody. Just sayin

It's great to see he's doing those meetings even if they are (likely) not turning into roles. A lot of people will be meeting with JJ for Star Wars. But perhaps he will remember Zac for another movie he does in the future.

You're probably right but I can't imagine not choosing Zac for Luke's son. He's the perfect candidate for that role, possessing the boyish innocence, the wide-eyed dumbfounded youth, the soft tenor voice, the physical attributes - I mean, he's effin perfect for it. Leo is the complete opposite - too old, too puffy, too bald...just, no. Gosling is a better choice than Leo, but he's got a clever, trickster element to his acting that doesn't fit with Luke. Zac is the perfect choice, and I'm not saying that because I'm a cougar with a female hard-on for him, lol. I'm saying that from a point of complete disinterest, looking at it objectively.
If they can choose Hayden for Anakin then they can damn well choose Zac for Luke's son. Just sayin.

Yeah, I also think Zac will be perfect as Luke's son. Unfortunately, I don't see Zac getting cast in the new Star Wars film. People already hate that Disney acquired Star Wars, and they'll go berserk if a (former) Disney star gets a role in it.

I just hope it's true that he at least had meetings with J.J. even if he doesn't end up getting the role. JJ is my favorite director and I hope he's different from others who look down on Zac because of his Disney past. It's really sad to see how much hate Zac is getting after the Star Wars rumors broke.

Funny thing how both Zac and Ryan started at Disney, but no one mentions that.

Idt it's "hate" just a bunch of fanboys upset which tbh, I rather like lol. But fanboys were dead set against Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, then the movie came out and they loved her.

"Funny thing how both Zac and Ryan started at Disney, but no one mentions that."

I strongly object to this cannard. Zac did NOT "start" at Disney! He was an established teen actor. He auditioned for HSM and won the part, no one understands why, but he just walked in off the street. He didn't work for Disney before HSM and he hasn't worked for them since.

Truer words were never spoken. His boyish quality, which has probably kept him from being cast in big action thrillers, renders him perfect for the Star Wars universe.

There is no other choice. But this is Hollywood, so they will probably go for someone else.

Ryan Gosling 'Star Wars' Rumor 'Not True' According To Representatives

It is interesting that Zac's representatives will answer.
Because it was a sensation today
Beejeezbee on July 26th, 2013 12:34 am (UTC)
What either publicists say to this doesn't mean much tbh. Publicists are paid to lie.

Does that mean, it's true*? No idea, it's possible but not certain. A denial by a rep means nothing in this context though.

* True as in having had a meeting. The rumor was never about more.
Sapphirasapphia on July 26th, 2013 04:37 am (UTC)
Yes, probably you are absolutely right. Just, I had a feeling - what about Gosling - this is a rumor. I can't imagine him there. But I can't help it, I think about Zac - it's true. (I don't know if a business meeting last week, it was about that project... it's just a thought)
But what pleased me in this situation, I did notice more warmth to Zac as an actor, reading discussed under all these articles.
