You know it's been read, reread, rewritten and edited before press, so what bothers me is the page-and-a-half ego that exclaims, "I'm going to analyze Zac Efron by using Benjamin's
"Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" as a text. Then, I am
going to invoke Baudrillard's "Simulacra and Simulation" to discuss that surplus is what separates the original work (Benjamin's aura, Zac's person) from the simulation (Zac's public persona, which is narrative "repetition" of every Disney teen heart throb, "with a difference", the difference being a surplus, or aura, something all those other unsuccessful hotties don't have, like Justin Bieber. Now that I've interpolated Derrida's "Structure Sign and Play," I am going to use Roland Barthes "Death of an Author" to justify my "reader"-response of Efron's work, thereby giving you my opinion of what strokes my intellect about his characters. Last, but not least, I am going to talk to - what's his name? - oh yeah, Zac Efron.

As I writer I get the fuck out of the way and let the characters or the interviewee speak. Today's modern authors can't see past their own giant egos / intellects.

I wish he'd given me more Zac and less himself.

100%. This is easily one my least enjoyable cover stories solely based on the writing style of the author. Too bad, as I'm unsure what other major magazines, if any, At Any Price may merit.
