I had hope for like 2 minutes there, then nothing.

So I actually have to see the movie to see Zac in this which I really, really want. At least it looks like a good movie, so I can still enjoy it while sitting through the movie for Zac's part.

But thank you for finding this.

I like the trailer, seems like a cute movie!
I'm sooo excited to see Zac in this, but I'm afraid I won't be able to watch it any time soon...I really hope we get it at least on DVD here, but I don't think we will :/

I see they are holding back on revealing Zac's surprising appearance (pun intended). This may be a marketing mistake. I hope the distributor at least includes him in local advertising, because his name can pull dozens or hundreds of extra ticket sales in each community, and that can make a difference in the per-theater box office totals, which in turn could encourage additional exhibitors to book this little movie after it begins its limited release.

As much as I would have loved seeing Zac, I sort of like that he's not in it. I'm glad that they are trying to sell the movie on its own merits and not shoehorn Zac into it. He makes only a cameo and shouldn't be paid any attention in a trailer. If he would be in it, the media would for sure try to turn it into a 'Zac movie' and totally skew perception. That's not helping anyone, esp for the target demo where Zac might be more a red flag than a draw. Zac being a surprise appearance in the movie might work in his favor too - people can like him for his performance alone.

That's what I thought, but didn't know how to properly say it.

I totally agree, no promo junket, etc. But a red-carpet prance and local advertising would let everyone know without major media involvement.

What do you mean with local advertising? Print ads? That would be even worse since it would put him on the same level than the leads. But either way, advertising = media involvement. He's only a cameo and I'm perfectly fine with him not being part of the marketing campaign at all.

As for the red carpet... I'm not even sure that there will be a premiere. Indies like that might have a small screening with photographers but not a traditional red carpet premiere. But if either happens I would expect it be in NYC and idk if they want to pay for Zac and his entourage to fly in etc. It's not like he's going to pay for all of that himself.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this next Tuesday at Melbourne Film Festival. I'm a huge lover of Elizabeth Olsen and Josh Radnor and Zac being in it is just a HUGEEEEEEEEEE bonus.
But agreed, I'm glad they aren't using Zac's name to pull in more sales because it'll turn into a 'Zac Efron Film' rather than what the plot and the character focus is on. Still super excited for Zac though, hopefully you understand what I'm saying - don't want to offend anyone!!
