Roundup: Out & About in LA plus TLO Interviews, his Parade recipe, and Second Weekend Box Office

From JJ, though fwiw I think that's actually Laurel Canyon Country Store,
not Country Mart as the paparazzi labeled it.

Box Office actuals finally came in a little while ago.
Sadly TLO got kicked to fourth by THG and a difference of just
$6,248

lol.

It's not a super-great holdover number but that's okay and expected with the reviews and a demographic target under heavy competition. Plus this weekend the box office was just down in general in anticipation of The Avengers which will kill everyone next week.

I wasn't expecting a great holdover, but 10 mill is still good. It should cross the 50 million mark so that's good and it's international numbers are climbing so in all TLO is a success, which is all I could hope for. Now what I really wanna see is Liberal Arts and The Paperboy.

BTW is it asking too much for them to Easy Money out of pre-development?

with the first version of the script that got turned in, i'm glad they've waited on that project. it was painfully and blandly derivative of the original. part of the problem is wb wants to shoot for pg-13 which is so absolutely boring compared to the swedish version. i can't imagine a pg-13 version that isn't just watered-down rubbish tbh.

Hmm that's interesting, I had no idea they were going for a PG-13 rating. Honestly I can see where it could work, but they would defiantly need to work the hell out of that script, and the acting/directing would have to be damn near perfect. I just would love to see it, but I want it to do justice to the original for sure so if the first script was garage then I'm willing to wait.

"Interesting" is the wrong word. Why would WB option a dark thriller and then try to turn it into a bland PG-13 romp? I will never understand studio executives.

Thank God no one sold The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to a major studio for Americanization.
