CBS Sunday Morning Preview and a couple FB videos
From CBS, confirmation of his appearance on CBS Sunday Morning and a preview:
During a walk-through of the private boot camp where he trained for his role as a Marine in his new film, The Lucky One, Zac Efron talks to Tracy Smith about some of the lucky breaks early on his career, and the labels that came with success.

An excerpt from the interview is below.

SMITH: For those of us who will never be a heartthrob, just explain what that’s like.
EFRON: I can't explain to you what it's like to be a heartthrob. I don't think I am a heartthrob.
SMITH: What do you think of that word, heartthrob?
EFRON: Heartthrob? I hate it. I hate it. It follows you around, but you don't deserve it. It’s like, "Why?"
SMITH: So how do you see yourself?
EFRON: I'm just me. I'm just Zac. Just Zac.

The full interview will broadcast Sunday, April 1, on the CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD (9:00-10:30 AM/ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the Executive Producer.

Also, an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel has been scheduled for April 16th.

Zac made a video inviting you to enter to win a trip to the LA premiere for The Lucky One. Details for the contest are here and the video is here:

On one hand, as someone who has never owned the word "pretty" or "sexy", I totally understand how he feels about himself. On the other hand, as a woman with a healthy sex drive, I can't help but exclaim "have you taken a look in the mirror lately Zac? Perhaps you need glasses cos you are one hot dude!"

I'm super excited to see him on the CBS Morning show. I feel like that's going to be a good interview.

And I obviously entered the contest.

I think I understand the "heartthrob" thing. That word is objectification, associated with youth (teen heartthrob) and makes him sound just like a looker and not someone who has interesting thoughts and opinions. It's a word too that associates him with women, and does not connect him to men. It, as much as we may not wish it, is a feminine word. The way he carries himself does not suggest for a second that he doesn't know that he's attractive. I think it must be like being called "cute" or "cutie" as a woman. You may appreciate the sentiment, but wouldn't it seem more respectful and flattering to be called "beautiful" or "brilliant?"

Just some thoughts :)

This is the one aspect of The Zefron that annoys me, his refusal to deal with some of the important elements of his success. I excuse it because he probably just doesn't want to deal with complex, personal aspects of his career in toss-off TV interviews.

He has to have thought about being a heartthrob, since every time he sticks his head out the door a mob of squeeling girls precipitates, but he doesn't want to. It's all part of his control issues. He prefers the aspects of his career that he can control, and he laughs off or denies the aspects that he can't control - being a heartthrob, being a "charm bomb". But his success is a stool with three legs: talent, beauty, charm. He wants to talk about the work but shies away from the other two.

Yes! Excellent nuance. And I loved what you said about being called cute when you'd rather be called intelligent or fascinating, etc. Very good!
