Roundup: Michelle on NYE + random Bahrani bit
From an interview with Michelle Pfeiffer at the Elle's Women in Hollywood gala with E!:
In other New Year's Eve news, Michelle Pfeiffer and Zac Efron may or may not get it on. "We have a very unusual relationship," Pfeiffer told me. "We're sort of an odd couple.

"He only really hangs out with me in the beginning, because I bribe him with super-fabulous party tickets for New Year's Eve, but then I think he grows a little fond of me," she said.

Totally random, not that significant lol but, from Northern Star Online:
It's not every day that Dennis Quaid, Zac Efron and Heather Graham show up in DeKalb.

So imagine the surprise to the Mediterraneo House Band, the resident musicians of the Mediterraneo Grill, 122 E. Lincoln Highway, when they got to play for the cast and crew of the film Heartland, which was shot in DeKalb.

"We got to meet Zac and Heather and [other cast and crew] last week," said Sam Hight, junior music performance major and tenor saxophone player for the Mediterraneo House Band. "It was a lot of fun."

ETA, realized I should add this in:

I am guessing May is the answer because they are aiming for Cannes. That'd be cool :D

Doesn't May seem kinda soon? I saw that the other day and thought maybe it was just that she didn't know 100% what she was talking about (she doesn't have much experience with movies right?)

IDK for sure how Bahrani works on editing and such, but May isn't impossible. He was already working on the film while Zac was doing The Paperboy. I'm blanking on where I heard but I think they did some reshoots of scenes from the first half during the second half. And I know the director worked on some of the dialogue in some scenes between first and second leg. Also the actors did some ADR already while in Chicago during the second leg.

Maika does not have much experience but she's probably just saying what she was told. Whether it comes true, we'll see, lol.

Even if it gets screened at Cannes in May, we average moviegoers should wait several months to see it, right? :(

Yeah. Although first we get to go through the "pleasure" of finding a distributor. It's better now than it has been in 2008 but Bahrani's movies aren't particularly commercial so it's not going to be the easiest sell.

I'm curious if he's editing himself again. He did 2 out of his 3 features and so far I've seen no editor listed anywhere. I always thought May is a feasible timeframe for a festival premiere but if he's indeed editing himself, I think that would speed things up even further.

Hey, HSM3 was zipped through post-production in like three months. It's all about desire (or avarice, since Disney knew they had a blockbuster on their hands).

I would never compare HSM3 with the Bahrani movie. HSM3 has the production values and quality of a fancy/high-scale TV movie. I surely would not want that as a scale for the Bahrani movie.

I disagree with the fancy TV movie part tbh. HSM3 was another level. Obviously still made on the cheap compared to a lot of movies but finished product was not TV level imo.

If we don't want them compared, I would just say that they are totally different films with different directors, aesthetics and totally different goals... hence the editing process will be quite different.

Actually, I would think a musical would be trickier to edit, you got to hit all the musical cues as well as the usual considerations in conventional movies. Anyway, six months is enough time if the key people are free to concentrate on it. It doesn't even have to be final-finished. Didn't Linklater show a "first look" version of M&OW at the Toronto festival?

Well that's good about the Bahrani film. Hopefully it gets picked up by a distributor.

Sounds like they are infact in London.
Via @M_Alturki on twitter.
"Had a wicked birthday lunch for @mikehellertr in #Zuma London with @JustinNappi and friends so much fun , now off to Harrods."

It doesn't sound like filming or anything is going on so I'm still wondering why Zac would be there.
