Okay so... people want to talk about his face. I've never been as keyed up over changes in his face as other people have. And generally I don't even feel it is worth mentioning until we get to January-February 2011 levels of roundness, when his temples take over his eyes. But I do think there is something to be said when it might affect continuity and it might in this case. I still don't think it is as bad as some people do though.

Here is a chart for comparison...

The last one is worst. Though he also looks like ET with his neck retracted, so idek what is going on there.

But even in the one before, it is rounder, enough so that might affect the project. And that is kind of what bothers me. Like I think he should have, but even if he didn't realize or didn't think (cause sometimes we don't) that his face was changing... someone else around him, like his assistant or manager or someone, should've said something.

IDK why it changed, it doesn't take much even. He eats out a lot and and he drinks like most guys his age do. But it is worth noting that while I think he was being excessive at the beginning of the year and it really showed, recently he's a lot less Hollywood club mildew and really much more like normal young 20-something dude. This is especially true when he's been at work and out of LA the past few months -- he ate out regularly and went out for fun once a weekend. That said, bro you are almost 24, think about these things. Everyone knows his face is what changes first and most.

I'll be sad for him if it does affect how people perceive his success in this role. It is an exciting project and he needs all the cred he can get. And I'm sure Bahrani is under pressure since this is his first project with major stars, so he has a lot at stake too. If Zac loses points, either with critics, the public, or the director, on something so easily preventable, shame on him and shame on the people around him who are supposed to be looking out for him, his projects, his reputation, and his million-dollar face.

as i said, i don't think his face is that big of a deal, i bring it up 99% less frequently than others do. but i do think it changed and i'm surprised nobody tried to curb it slightly to make it match up a tiny bit better. a number of people, including you, brought up his chubs over the past couple weeks, so i'm confused why just talking about it now makes me horrible.

i don't like questioning his work ethic because i think he has always demonstrated an amazing amount of professionalism. even when he was in nyc and i'm told was clubbing all the time, he showed up, he did his job and did it well, and was nice to people. and i'm not sure questioning his face is questioning his work ethic, at least to me. it was just something that makes sense to match. and i was also trying to defend him in this post because i'm getting fucking tired of people saying things like he's going out clubbing endlessly when it is just NOT the case as far as any of us know.

I did bring it up because it struck me at the time. But looking at it within the filming context it's not a huge difference at all.

My problem is what you (and Jeezbee) are inferring. That he should be watching his face carefully and if he isn't it is a lapse of professionalism not just by him but by the entire cast and crew for not pointing it out. That to me is a HUGE ASS leap of logic. It could be something that the producers/director/etc do not notice in day to day interaction with him. There are many, MANY billion other reasons and I do take issue with the fact that he was blamed so freaking quickly for something that is very likely a non-issue. (" If Zac loses points, either with critics, the public, or the director, on something so easily preventable, shame on him and shame on the people around him who are supposed to be looking out for him, his projects, his reputation, and his million-dollar face.")

Maybe that is not at all what you were trying to communicate but that is how it came off to me and frankly it really pissed me off.

i didn't bring up the cast and crew pointing it out. i said his people should know and they should intercede if he is doing something inadvertently or otherwise that may undermine his ultimate goal which is a good performance. and this could.

and i did say *IF* he loses points. it would be a shame if it affects the outcome because it is something so easily avoided.

i guess i'm frustrated that i went into this just addressing something other people were talking about and i was even trying to be rational about it and caution and reason and even defend him, and automatically the worst is assumed of what i'm saying.

i'm a staunch defender of zac... i even defended him when people were all questioning him for bungee jumping in the middle of filming charlie st cloud. i still will. bungee jumping is safer than most other outdoor adventure sports even cycling. it is a logical choice! i've even defended him when i don't think he deserves it.

so why am i getting the second degree for this. people were already talking about his face and half the people who talk about his moderate face fluctuations, now and ever since whenever, say stuff i would NEVER say about it.

but i point this out and the problems it could cause and that i think they should've done a little bit to prevent it, erring on the side of caution, and i'm a horrible fan.

of all the things in the world i've ever posted here and fretted about what people would think in return, things i thought people would jump on me for, this was not one of them. and it makes me seriously question a lot of things.

Okay for one, I feel like even addressing it is just silly because we don't even know it'll be an issue, but I understand that you were trying to do it in a spirit of supporting him. It honestly did not come off that way to me.

I know you support him, I don't think anyone who ever reads your blog could doubt that. Sometimes I don't agree with the things you take issues with but I know that you care about Zef and want the best for him. So me getting upset is more BECAUSE I know you feel so strongly about him and the fact that honestly I just think the whole thing about his face is ridiculously silly.

And I think the people you see talking about his face (correct me if I'm wrong) are on twitter and I don't take twitter fans (maybe this is mean) seriously at all. So for me it was like wtf is this out of left field, why does anyone care about this? because I don't pay attention to people on twitter.

tl;dr - I feel like the whole thing is blown way out of proportion and that is what I am the most upset with, the fact that this is even an issue in this fandom. I'm upset that it's even a thing and that we even worry about it because it's so effing stupid, honestly.

People have talked about it in comments here and I guess on fanforum too. And there is a reason I did not post the LAX pics to ONTD cause I know how that would've gone.

Like I said, I almost never care about when his face fluctuates and I rarely say anything except to defend him on that front. This is something, I agree, that is very insignificant usually.

But this is one time when I think it does actually matter. This could affect a movie, how it and he are received. This film will be such a boon for him if it goes well. I'm just surprised that knowing his face changed over The Paperboy and knowing what it looked like at LAX that he and his people don't have tighter reins on it. Everything should be spot on. Including continuity.

Is it possible that I'm the main reason for your anger? Cady only put up the facts. I screened my comment now since it seemed to make things worse.

I know I'm very direct and opinionated but I worry about the continuity of the movie because I want the best for him and this movie. I know I've been critical about his face weight in the past but I haven't said anything about his chubby face for a while... not even when he came back from Nola. But many people noticed the difference. Everywhere. So it had to be really visible.

It's not about his chubby face per se at all. It's about the difference between July and October. And I'm not sure if it matters that his face will look different on film than it does in these fanpics because if there is a change in his face, the medium won't matter. In fact, weight is noted to be exaggerated on screen so I'm worried that even little changes we can see just in pictures will be magnified on screen.

I'm just frustrated because I do think he and his people should watch out for things like this. People have been roasted over much smaller things in movie reviews than this.

First of all, I don't think anyone in their right mind can argue the fact that you're a fan of Zac and one of his biggest defenders. Even though I don't always agree with everything you say, I know it comes from a good place. I took issue more so wit what jeezbee said because I think it's unfair to speculate about what the cast and crew might think about his facial changes. We don't know Bahrani or his crew so I think that went over the line. I personally think he looks a hell of a lot better than he did at the airport two weeks ago and more in line with what it looked like in July (with the exception of that last pic...idek what's going on there).

Other than in the comments here, I've seen very few people mention his face other places. I could see people on Twitter maybe mentioning it but I have trouble taking them seriously because sometimes Twitter seems like nothing more than a place to raz on him for the clubbing and the drinking.

I don't know, in the most recent pics I don't see a reason to make such a big deal over his face. When he was papped in LAX I went "dude, what happened to your face?" because it was really obvious, but this time I went "oh good, he looks better."
