source

A very fuzzy picture from twitter on Wednesday:

And here are a few pictures of the Crescent Palms Motel which they are using. It looks like a great match for the era:

Bee: Zac – CStC - lying in bedjeezbee on August 27th, 2011 01:52 pm (UTC)
I like the expression on his face in some of the close-ups... like a lost boy - which is exactly what he should look like in this scene.

I thought Zac would be bleeding on his forehead in that scene...? Anyway, lovely pictures!

Hopefully we get The Papberboy before The Lucky One. I'm so angry with Warner Brothers right now...

There is no reason to be angry. If you wanna see Efron winning some important awards, then the movie should arrive in the awards season/Oscar race period.

I really hope The Paperboy takes the festival rout (Cannes, La Mostra, TIFF) and that entails an opening in the fall or winter of 2012.

So movies that come out before the fall or winter do not qualify for any major film awards?

They do qualify however, the critics and academics never nominate them. Last year, two critically acclaimed films that received Oscar nominations were The kids are all right and Winter's. Both of them were released in summer (July 30 and June 11). I'm not saying Efron will surely win major awards for The Lucky One, I don't even know if that movie has the word Oscar written over it but I can tell you that is better to have a summer opening than a spring one.

On the other hand we got The Paperboy. It's the next movie of Lee Daniels (the guy who directed Precious) and it has Pedro Almodóvar behind the script (I read he's also producing it) so don't be surprised if it doesn't open in any city until late 2012.

The Lucky One will get no Oscar consideration. And August is generally too early for Oscar looks anyway.

Sundance, January. I'd lay odds on it.

For Paperboy that is.

I love these pictures, and if this is the scene I think they're filming, then this is exactly how I pictured Jack in the book for this scene.
