Round-up: Paperboy UK rights, Einstein Theory update, The Lorax promo poster
A few brief updates for today:

The Paperboy

Per THR and Variety, Lionsgate UK has bought the UK theatrical distribution rights for The Paperboy.

The PR blurb, "Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey and Sofia Vergara star in this story of an idealistic reporter who returns to his Florida hometown to investigate the possibly unlawful imprisonment of a death row inmate," makes it seem more definitive to me that Matthew is Ward, otherwise Tobey would've been listed. I still find it weird cause Matthew is significantly older but we'll see. Side note: Matthew has been growing a mustache out perhaps for his role. I can't wait to see how Zac will look.

Einstein Theory

After months and months of nothing discernible happening, there was small movement recently on Einstein Theory. The studio put out an open writing assignment this month. This means they are looking for a new writer to work on a previous draft by the original writers Tim Calpin and Kevin Jakubowski. The rewrite could be practically from scratch but using basic plot line and characters or it could be as minor as fixing a few pages.

The Lorax

You know who might be great for the Einstein Theory OWA? How about Joe Cornish? Not only for the rewrite but get him as writer & director package in one go.

My #1 wish to direct this movie has always been Edgar Wright - I thought he would have been the perfect fit for this material (based on what we know) but I'm also aware that he's very unlikely to do it since he's developing his own stuff and is probably too high-profile to board Zac's movie as director for hire only.

But with Attack the Block getting such a great feedback for his directorial feature debut and his writing background, Joe Cornish might be a fantastic fit as well and he might be more doable. He's been doing comedy on TV back in the days and has been Edgar Wright's writing partner for several projects from Hot Fuzz to the upcoming Tintin and Antman. And I've read a lot of fantastic comments about his directing effort back when it premiered at SXSW incl his great action sequences.

So Joe Cornish might be a fabulous fit as well, he has done comedy, sci-fi and actiony stuff, he's a great writer and promising director. I'm sure Cornish has a few of his own projects/ideas perculating as well but he might not be totally out of reach to get on board of an existing studio project. And Edgar Wright might not be interested directing but perhaps Joe can rope him into the re-write as co-writer and/or come on board as EP. That would give the movie even more fanboy credibility. Although Joe by himself would be perfectly fine as well.

The Lorax poster is cute. I'm hoping that we get a teaser trailer with Cars 2 later this month but it might be a bit early. I would prefer it debut with Cars 2 and not Winnie the Pooh or The Smurfs in July (or even later) though.

And I can't wait for some of the remaining Paperboy casting. I'm especially curious who will play Hillary Van Vetter - it's not a huge part but juicy to play for an actor.

ETA: Oh, I forgot to say that I'm actually glad that they have an OWA out because it means that it's still in development and not dead. Considering the timeframe they have been working on it already, it seems clear that the original writer weren't really getting the script where the studio and producers wanted it to move forward with the project, so hiring a new writer is a good thing! I hope it works out with Einstein Theory because I always liked this project a lot.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I cannot wait til they start filming The Paperboy. The story and cast sound amazing.

I actually want to see The Lorax. Its going to be such a cute movie, and Zac Efron, Danny Devito, Betty White, and Taylor Swift are starring in it. Zac is my favorite male celebrity, and Taylor Swift is my favorite female celebrity. I'm just glad its a voice over movie and not live action only because I'm worried about Taylor Swift's acting, but since its a voice over it should be okay. I have no doubt that Zac or the other cast can do it, and even Taylor Swift.

Can someone tell me the plot of Einstein Theory? I almost forgot about that movie, its been so long.

Random thought: I find it odd that on The Lorax poster that they don't mentioned anyone who is in the movie. As I previously stated, there are big names in the movie, not just Zac, but you would think they would use that to get more people interested in it. Maybe not, and I'm just delusional.

einstein theory's brief summary is 'a young student cracks a puzzle created by Einstein that unlocks clues to the future and a sinister group goes after him.'

re: names on posters... i think with a lot of animated films they do not really highlight the actors much, unless they are a big star or are a central character... like jack black in kung fu panda.

pretty sure she is charlotte. at least in the book there are no other major females. i think sofia has the right look in general, i don't know her acting that well so idk if she can play the dramatic aspect of it. and yeah i think tobey is yardley then which fits with what lee daniels said awhile ago, that tobey is playing opposite type. i still can't get past it though, so hopefully they pull it off.
