Lorax & TLO tidbits
Christopher Meledandri talked during Hop promotion in an interview with Collider a bit about The Lorax. Here is what he said:

"Danny DeVito [is] voicing the Lorax and Zac Efron [is] voicing the role of Ted in a cast that involves Rob Riggle, Betty White [and] Taylor Swift. It’s a terrific voice cast. The film is visually absolutely distinctive and extremely powerful visually. It is a complex film from a story perspective, because the film is a story within a story. We’re, I’d say, about 30% through animation [and] I’m very pleased with how it’s going."

Poor Ed Helms got forgotten. But Christopher's story in a story comment reinforces the impression of the logline we got a few days ago: that Zac's part could actually be a bit bigger than many of us thought initially since it sounds as he is the main figure in the 'outside' story. You can watch the full video interview with Meledandri below; talk about The Lorax starts around 2:57:

The Maroon also had an article about Zac's piano hand-double in The Lucky One. Here's the part about Zac:

The piano performance junior recently appeared in the upcoming film "The Lucky One" as the hands of Zac Efron.

Mayon was recommended for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to act as a hand double in the film by orchestra director Jean Montés,

"He called me one day and was like, ‘Hey I got a job for you, maybe if you want to be a hand double for this movie,'" said Mayon.

Apprehensive about doing a minor production for one of his peers, Mayon was taken aback when he learned who the actor he was to portray was. "Professor Montés said Zac Efron and I said, all right, I'm going to have to go for it."

Doubling as Zac Efron's hands was not an easy process. In order to be considered for the role, Mayon had to compare his hands to Efron's to ensure they looked exactly the same. "They're the same size and everything," said Mayon. "He's a little darker than me, though." After comparing hands, Mayon was given the job.

For Mayon, the experience was far more than he could ask for. Mayon was able to watch Efron in scenes and talk to him because he only had to be on set whenever he was needed. "I got his phone number," said Mayon. "I wanted to see if he wanted to hang out with me, but he was too busy. He probably already deleted me on his phone, but I still have his number."

Nicholas Sparks tweeted yesterday about the status of the release date again. He also addressed Logan's age today and there are some cute comments from his 9-year-old daughter on top (who seems to have a bit a crush on Zac):

Nothing new re the release date tbh, that's what we all figured but with the first cut done, I think we might get a release date in the foreseeable future.

Good to know the character's age. We figured that Zac wouldn't pass for 28+ but it was still open how old they really made him, so this tweet was quite useful.

he tweeted again today...

"Movie news ... The Lucky One should come out sometime later this year, Safe Haven will go into production this year ..."

Thanks. I saw that but somehow I doubt that he got new info since this earlier tweet from WB (and on a weekend no less). Plus, his use of 'should' instead of 'will' sounds to me as if nothing has changed. That's why I only included the earlier tweet from him.

I think until BOM or ERC has a date or someone says something more definitive, everything is more or less of speculation imo.

I'm sure that hand-double guy is a nice kid but somehow he comes across a bit ungrateful in this article imo. Like how Zac didn't want to hang out with him... despite saying Zac was busy he made it sound like it was an excuse and he totally snubbed him. Not that he was actually busy working (and not just a few scenes like him).

But the fact that Zac even gave him his phone number shows clearly that was not the case. On the contrary, I find it extremely nice and trusting of Zac to even do that. It's not like he was his co-star for the entire movie but just a stand-in for a few scenes.

IDK. Perhaps that's just me.

I really want to see how Ted will look like on The Lorax.

And I'm glad Sparks clarified that Logan will be 25 and not on his late 20s early 30s like on the book. Not that this wasn't already obvious but for the fans of the book who thought Zac was too young and etc.

Also: omg I can not with him saying that Zac is cute. tears

Oh, I think it was his daughter. Baw

Oh, I didn't see that. I just went to his twitter and noticed it was in a reply... which is the reason why I missed it. I'm going to add that in now.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Added, incl. his daughter's comments.

Re. The Lorax - I'm also interested how old they make his character. The boy in the book looks like 12 years old... but that seems a bit young to have a love interest. Plus, Zac's voice might sound a bit too old for a 12-year-old character.

Yes and Taylor's Audrey doesn't look very young on that still so I really think they are going to be a little bit older than 12 but still teenagers
