Entering the Screening

ETA: Zac entering and speaking:

News Video with translation (ty peryne_gl!)

News presenter: … And now the end of the American Film Festival of Deauville, with the presence of a young American actor revealed by tv shows. Zac Efron is the hero of a romantic comedy, but with a touch of fantasy, in which he plays a student confronted with the death of his little brother. Two of our journalists met him…

Zac Efron just landed in Deauville. In a few hours, it’ll be this… [camera moves to screaming crowd]

Wherever the American actor goes, you can be sure to find a bunch of girls in tears.

At 23, Zac Efron is indeed well-known from a very specific part of the population…

Girl 1: He’s so gorgeous with his 6-pack.
Girl 2: He’s a good actor, and a hot dude (giggles).
Girl 3: He’s done a lot of movies about basketball, though he doesn’t play at all.

It’s High School Musical, a made-for-tv movie aiming specifically at teens, that kick-started the phenomenon 5 years ago, with 250 millions viewers.

But Zac has grown up since. And he’s now trying to change a bit. Not just his looks, but first and foremost his path in terms of career. In his new movie, he has to deal with death.

Zac: A lot of fans, who’ve been supporting me since day 1, have reached another level in their lives. They’ve grown up, they’ve gained maturity. Some of them might have experienced loss already. Maybe the movie is gonna help them.

Girl: It’s a change. You can tell he’s evolved, he’s more confident since HSM.
Girl 2: I think he’s gonna be a great actor.
Girl 3: Yeah me too. Because he’s started to make better movies. Less “teens oriented” movies.

Most of the fans will continue to follow his evolution. As long as his pretty face remains… [ouch, lol]

Peryne also translated this other article for us:

"Don’t call him a « little boy » anymore. With his beard & his moustache, the teen heartthrob’s become a big one. A man, I mean.

In the “beaches” section of the weather forecast, under the category “festivals barometer”, major turbulences could be encountered around Deauville this afternoon.

Quite understandable considering it’s the American Film Festival at the moment.

But what was pretty unusual for this event, traditionally fairly quiet, were the hundreds of barely pubescent girls in town, waving around frantically, trying to be the first ones lining up behind the barriers.

Suddenly, there’s screams, camera flashes, pens raised in the air in hope of a signature… Hold onto your hats [ok this was not really written, but I’m adding it anyway cos I like the saying lol), Mister Zac Efron himself just arrived.

And what a Zac! Last time we saw him, he was a kid labeled “Disney”; now we find a man worthy of this word. With facial hair and extremely classy in a suit & tie, the 22 year old actor made quite the impression amongst both the teenagers and their moms.

Let’s hope that his movie, Charlie St Cloud, receives as many good reviews as his newfound pilosity!"

Pilosity is my new favorite word! :D

Wow, other than the nast gold shoes, Gina actually is wearing something kinda cute in the last pic! SHOCKING.

I ENJOY HOW DELICIOUSLY AMERICAN AND BAD HIS ACCENT IS IN EVERY SINGLE LANGUAGE.

Also I think he is so cute rn, idek. Like a cuddly bear.

Get out of my head, etc re: those damn gold shoes, haha. Mte.

They're so gross. She's not Suri Cruise, that isn't going to fly.

Oh re your other question, I think I am gonna go ~in depth~ for my own mental notekeeping and post ~fashin thoughts~ on my journal. Sporadically over the month lol. But I'll keep collecting my thoughts and then ~debrief~. So far I basically agree with you with a few outfits here and there from others.

Yay! ^_^

Wait are we talking Zac fashion of fashion in general (or both)?
Shruticalcified on September 12th, 2010 01:17 am (UTC)
lol i meant fashion fashion. idk tho, jw now, how do you feel about this suit?
It's Audrey not Aubreyaudrey_za on September 12th, 2010 01:28 am (UTC)
No, no the "Yay!" was for fashion fashion, not HIM, lol.

I mean, I had said earlier on ONTD that I appreciated he didn't wear a belt. Suits should be tailored to fit w/o a belt, IMHO- BUT, there's the rub because the trousers have too baggy an inseam. Re: Accessories: Not feeling the shoes or tie.

I'm definitely not mad, but this is an overall PASS.
Shruticalcified on September 12th, 2010 01:31 am (UTC)
I saw you comment to my fav comment on that post re: looks Mexican and liking it!

I do also like the beltlessness. I was telling Cady that the low-hanging inseam gives him an odd paunch that adds to the junior statesman vibe. I rather liked the tie, but I was sort of morally opposed to the shoes - though idk what would have been better.

Also I don't like the use of shades on the red carpet at all but whatever!
It's Audrey not Aubreyaudrey_za on September 12th, 2010 01:40 am (UTC)
It was a beautiful comment. :') I was like 'Hmmmm, how strange... I LOVE IT!' haha!

K, DYING at "junior statesman" but 'tis true! I just don't like the tie on him. It reads a little old. He can still have fun with his style whereas at ____ age, dressing young(er) could be viewed as a negative. Those shoes reminded me of the Three Caballeros (don't ask) and yeah...

Yeah, the shades were one thing at the ESPY's- shit was legit HOT and bright as all hell, but... maybe hand them over to Gina in the future? Or not, I mean it's ~*~his life. lol

*squeeeeee* Love it when he speaks French <3

Lol @ his answer about the beard - straight to the point, Zac ;)

And this thingy with his name on it, i think that's sort of a tradition: pretty much every American actor/actress that comes to the festival gets the "honor", or whatever, of having their name carved in the barrier of one of the many famous beach cabins of Deauville - don't quote me on that though, not 100% sure of it.
hunny miss (aka lets fead him to the gators)ehs_wildcats on September 12th, 2010 12:46 am (UTC)
lol... this will sound silly/random...

at first i thought you wrote famous beach chairs and i was like so people can go and say they sat on zac efron?

then i was like... wait a second that picture didn't look like a chair. then i re-read what you wrote and i was like OH LOL, CABIN.

i guess technically they could still sit on that barrier thing.
*¤*Peryne*¤*: Celebs • Jason Segel & Josh Radnor LMAOperyne_gl on September 12th, 2010 12:56 am (UTC)
LMAO.

Yeah i guess they still could - pretty sure that even if it was a freaking tall pole with an extremely sharp end, people would still find a way to sit on it just for the sake of saying they sat on Zac LOL.

This dude's video is hilarious - fanboys ftw! So weird to hear baby!Troy singing while looking at AllGrownUp&Hairy!Zac though O.o

Also, gaaaaaah at the French people's English accent = FAIL! Though i shouldn't judge cos mine is probably just as bad, if not worse - you'll have to ask kat8 LOL.
But still, can they just hire me to ask the questions next time? Or better yet, Zac, why don't you learn French? I volunteer to give you lessons ;)

About this press conf, Zac you worked ON Burr?!! O.o Now THAT'S more revealing than the Wonderland itw *goof*.

Hotel Royal Barriere
*

*
L’emouvant film : Le Secret De Charlie.
*

* Attention, peut contenir quelques spoilers. *.
