i just don't think it helps anyone rn though. not that universal has been like smart about most of this promo so i guess i shouldn't be surprised they'd try something this dumb at the last second... if that is what happened.

lolllllll

idk i just can't see zac thinking of it on his own. and by that i mean, his team.

i hope not. because he hasn't cared about being seen as masculine before.

but i also don't understand why universal would plant something that would damage their other assets.

idk that it will? i think they might have honestly felt a desperate need to raise zef awareness in a novel way.

but in some ways they haven't even seen the results from some of those efforts. like the mom blogs are only just now posting their blog visits and stuff. plus, though i don't put too much into the flixter bullseyes, the last one did show the age of people interested in the film was more evenly split between older and younger women now than ever before. so idk. though again, universal has made some really stupid moves with this film (trailer before inception may be the worst) so they would be that stupid to do this.

wait why is trailer before inception a bad thing? cause of different audiences?

i don't mind that they wanted to put a trailer before inception except that they didn't recut it or anything to make it more appealing to that specific demo. the trailer as it was aired was cheesy and garnered a lot of negative laughter from audiences from what i heard off of twitter and elsewhere.

UGH @ this whole situation
vilain_garcon on July 29th, 2010 05:37 am (UTC)
exactly, this is a classic case of horrible pr/marketing. i can only see this strengthening the argument that zac is really gay that he needs to lie about going to A STRIP CLUB if it is revealed it was some pr stunt. this is a really messy situation if that is the case.

it's why i hesitate to discuss this outside of this blog though tbh, the people who think he's gay already think it is a pr stunt to push his fake not-gayness.

ia. and it kind of makes him look like a prick. like it wasn't the WORST handling that could have happened, but the weird bravado and continued conversation about something that zac would ordinarily not discuss is so off-putting. that was what was annoying me about his mannerisms at the time (LOL WHEN I CHATTING AT YOU IN CAPS).
vilain_garcon on July 29th, 2010 05:46 am (UTC)
another thing is the way they chose to emphasize his masculinity. why specifically a strip club? that's so oppressive to the whole idea of masculinity but i'm not even going to make this a gender debate but that's a major reason why i'm upset if this is just a stunt.
