Why Zac was wanted for the role of Red Mist in Kick-Ass
Finally someone captured on video the explanation of why Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar originally wanted Zac to play the part of Red Mist in the film adaptation. Christopher Mintz-Plasse ended up with the role.

The mention is around 1:52ish in this interview with Millar and John Romita Jr, one of the film's exec producers and illustrator for the comic book:

Wait, was he a contender for the role? Cause that would have been sick.

I LOL'ed, and then felt bad, though.

i don't think they've ever talked about why he didn't do it, though i'm guessing one reason at least was timing.

I WISH THIS HAPPENED. It's okay, in my heart of hearts (and Zac's) he's a real superhero. With powers. He's too good for this vigilante shit.

i saw the movie today and i do NOT see zac in that role. which may have been good, you know, not to have him be typecast... but certainly the fact that christopher mintz-plasse is not a megahottie worked to the character's advantage. well, aaron johnson is a hottie himself, but with that unkempt hair and glasses they did a pretty decent job of hiding it... i still knew he was hot underneath though ;)
