Zac Efron will participate in the Hope for Haiti telethon
I'm really happy and proud that he is taking time to support this cause <3 I hope this telethon is very successful.

Excerpts from Marc Malkin:

I just got word that the Twilight star has signed on for Friday's Hope for Haiti telethon.

Stateside performers—some announced and others not—will include:

Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Shakira and Bruce Springsteen are among those who will perform live during the two-hour benefit, which will air on all the major television networks (including our very own E!).

Other mega-celebs who will present and/or help in the phone banks are Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal, Brad Pitt, Anna Kendrick, Sandra Bullock, Zac Efron, Bradley Cooper, Renée Zellweger, Chris Pine, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Colin Farrell, Jon Hamm, Gabby Sidibe and Emily Blunt, among many others.

Clooney is set to host from Los Angeles with Wyclef John in New York City and CNN newsman Anderson Cooper in Haiti.

Good man - such a good little egg :)

Hopefully this will help drive more people to do something, even if it's something small. Every little bit helps.

This is soooo awesome. I will take Clooney and Zef anyway I can get it. And with it being for such an important cause--even better!

I'm glad he's participating in this; I think it's incredibly important for people that are able to do their part to do it.

Way to go Zac, you always make us proud.

Sorry, I have to say this. I'm sure the people of Haiti would be happy to know that the telethon to help didn't interfere with Smallville's return to television. I'm sorry but . . . priorities please.

oh, i know. but i am not required to watch a telethon in order to know how to donate. the people of haiti wouldn't care if i watched a telethon or not, as long as i end up donating. my watching smallville won't change anything.

I'm actually a bit WHAT at them leading with Rob when the likes of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are on the list.

It's E!, they depend on Twilight for 99% of their traffic anymore. (It's still dumb though).

so proud of him! i'm not surprised thought.

and rpatz "hosting" from england??? wow, i guess that was perceived as the big draw?

it will be interesting to how successful it is given the times, but i think/hope everyone may surprise us!
