'Lorax' Production Comments and PSA Information

Variety posted an interesting article a week ago about The Lorax animation/vfx company Mac Guff. Mostly it is a business-y article but they do discuss the film's challenges:
Bled says the company has upped the ante on all the tools and pushed the creative envelope on "The Lorax."

Healy concurs: "There are fur characters in so many scenes, so many musical numbers, a Truffula Forest, a big water sequence and multiple scenes with many characters in them. All of these elements are highly intensive to render."

What I think is most interesting is the musical numbers comment. I'm really curious what that entails because it wasn't really expected, outside maybe Taylor Swift singing the credits song. I'm not counting on Zac singing though, fwiw.

Also from, information about upcoming Lorax PSAs:
In an effort to encourage children to spend more time outdoors and reconnect with nature, the USDA Forest Service and the Ad Council today announced that they are joining Universal Pictures to launch a series of public service advertisements (PSAs) featuring characters and footage from Universal and Illumination Entertainment's upcoming 3D-CG feature Dr Seuss' The Lorax...

All of the PSAs encourage children and their parents to visit ( where they can find ideas for outdoor activities, an interactive map tool -- powered by Google and Nature Find(TM) -- that enables users to search for nearby forests and parks, as well as downloadable activities for them to print and take with them when they visit.

NYE: Japan and London Promo Leftovers

Zac made this heart with a NYE resolution on it while in Japan:

What is really cool I think is that they stuck it on a big ad (from moechuuuuun):

Elle Girl Japan has an interview up, but the google translation is pretty whack. I summarized what I could from it Collapse )

Also there was apparently a UK round table interview as several sources share similar questions and answers. Some articles seem to pepper in old questions and answers so I am posting only excerpts... Collapse )
