Well we knew he liked Bear Grylls

While talking about new episodes of Man vs. Wild, Grylls actually mentions Zac:
This season, Discovery airs a behind-the-scenes episode that explains how the series is filmed, and another piece in which Grylls takes two of the show's fans on an adventure. There's no celebrity trek like last year's with Will Ferrell in Sweden.

"Zac Efron e-mailed the other day asking to do it," Grylls said.

I loved the Will Ferrell episode, so I'd welcome this.... but idek if Zac could keep up with Bear.

What a dumb rule... js.

From Greater Wilmington Business Journals:

Yet another Nicholas Sparks film has slipped through our fingers. The production team of “The Lucky One” set up offices in New Orleans on Monday. Although Wilmington’s EUE/Screen Gems studios was a consideration, the producers officially announced they had decided to make the film in Louisiana last Friday, said Craig Fincannon, founder of local casting agency Fincannon and Associates.

High School Musical star Zac Efron signed on for the lead role of the romantic drama about a U.S. Marine who returns from Iraq to search for the young woman in a photo he had found and carried throughout his tour of duty. He finds her in North Carolina, he said.

But, North Carolina’s $1 million tax incentive cap on highly compensated individuals (actors and directors) sent the film to Louisiana, Fincannon said. Efron signed a contract for more than that amount, he said. So, the production team decided to go elsewhere.

Zac is going to the Deauville Film Festival in September

From via google translation:

The Deauville Festival 2010 will be entitled to the presence of Zac Efron for Charlie St. Cloud.

If Emmanuelle Beart will be the chair of the 36th American Film Festival of Deauville 3 to 12 September 2010 (guess where) and is likely to be surrounded by beautiful people, here is a participant who could round up photographers.

Indeed, Zac Efron, star of High School Musical and also 17 Again, will present a preview of his new film, Charlie St. Cloud, a romantic drama on the edge of fantasy. The French release is scheduled for November 10, 2010... In short, another reason to go to Normandy in September.

Kind of weird. Not only timing wise but I thought they hated him last year for MAOW (eta: ok i mean, idk if everyone hated him but yk it seemed not so well-received) :/ but whatevs, hopefully it will be a nice vacation at its worst.
