wow, html fail, sorry.
i really just wish zac would get verified twitter and then never update it. that way at least there is an official twitter account.

I agree with you. That's what I suggested to LG's people as well, with the last fiasco of an actual adult male getting girls to call him while impersonating him. I'M SURE someone is doing that with Zac. Lucas used to have an official MySpace that he never updated but he eventually deleted it; I guess he didn't even want the hassle of having that. Maybe that's how Zac feels - he doesn't even want the hassle of having one at all. Maybe they're afraid they'll turn into Miley Cyrus and suddenly find themselves tweeting 300 times a day. :)

Twitter, MySpace AND Facebook will all give them their usernames, MySpace even uses the term "cybersquatting" for it, but they will ONLY do it if the person themselves complains and verifies it's them with a picture holding up an identity sign (i.e., one that says "Hi, Twitter, this is the real Zac Efron!"), and I guess neither Zef nor LG are that interested in doing so.

but he shouldn't have to do it, twitter should take care of all the fakers.

They would have to hire a separate department just to track down the fakers of the Twilight cast alone... but I agree that celebrities should just get real ones and not update it. They may just not be aware it's so rampant, or so potentially dangerous. idk.

Re: wow, html fail, sorry.
Facebook does actually have a proactive system now. They have a list of celebrity/famous/weird names that are blocked from being registered. I don't know how extensive it is but I checked and Zac is definitely on it, but Lucas is not.

If you have a name on that list and you are a legit person, whether you are the famous person or not, you have to prove your identity to Facebook in order to register that name.

This is what Twitter and Myspace need to do. Or at least respond to our complaints about posers. That would at least be better than letting them run rampant.

I'm also going to start using your Lucas poser story when people complain at me for defending against posers. They don't understand why I care and I've always said to protect Zac and to protect kids from perverts, but it is good to have a real story about a specific incident. Do you have more details? Like the twitter's fake name, etc.

And, LOL, I can't imagine either Lucas or Zac pulling a Miley and tweeting endlessly lol.

No, some 16yo girl owns the username lucasgrabeel on Facebook. They are aware of it (Lucas' people), but he just doesn't seem to care.

The fake twitter that was doing this was @lucasgrabeel3. It's owned by @israelhernandez, a person Lucas doesn't know. He is a 20something young man in California who has a very active fantasy life and pretends to be friends with Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Lucas and a few other people, makes fake twitter/saynow.com/MySpace accounts for them, makes them as "official" as possible, and links them all to each other. So it all seems very official.

The straw on the camel for me was when on his Lady Gaga "street team" MySpace page he started talking about a "charity" that "gives needy youth" access to concert tickets (ie himself) and was asking people to donate money and/or VIP packages and stuff like that. Then he had "lucas" telling his thousands of followers to "donate." That's fraud, and on the Internet, that is a federal crime punishable by several years in prison.

Marc and Lucas were in no way aware that he was doing this, of course. In fact, Marc was shocked and quite horrified when he was notified about it, so I do think celebrities don't necessarily understand the scope of the danger going on. Within an hour they'd contacted Twitter, etc. to take everything down.

Within a few more hours, Israel had deleted all of the Lucas account's fake tweets and followers, taken down the "charity" page, and had turned the Myspace into this: http://www.myspace.com/lucasgrabeel Initially he had fake-Lucas tweet that he'd been hacked, but you can see what's left of that. I guess they contacted him and spelled out exactly what could happen to him if he went on doing that.

So we have an example of someone who not just tried to victimize young girls with an HSM actor's persona, but tried to steal from them, too.

BTW, both Corbin and Drew Seeley have SayNow.com accounts and SayNow.com actually WILL take impersonators down if you or someone other than the celebrity contacts them about it. Israel used to have one for Lucas, but I contacted them and it was immediately suspended. Unfortunately, he started another one (saynow.com/lucasgrabeelstreetteam) but since that's not "official" or impersonating him, it's allowed to remain. :/

oops... fake twitter was @lucasgrabeel13, not just 3.
