News Roundup - Photoshoot, MAOW, PH
1) Photoshoot/Cover possible:

It is unclear what magazine this is for, or if they are even for the same magazines. But it does seem like a photoshoot is coming up. The question is, what for?

This leads us to...

2) September release for MAOW?

A good reason Zac'd be doing a photoshoot now would obviously be for MAOW promotion. The timing is about right for fall magazines... and according to a recent interview with James Tupper in a Buffalo, NY newspaper, September may be MAOW's month of release, despite previous rumors of October:

There was also a four-episode arc as Christina Applegate’s suitor on “Samantha Who?” and a role in the feature “Me and Orson Welles” opposite Zac Efron, Claire Danes and Ben Chaplin. It will open in theaters in September, about the same time as the medical drama “Mercy,” Tupper’s second series as a regular, will premiere on NBC.

If he's getting covers of magazines, it seems like they are gearing up for a big promotion. But with no major distributor and no date announced it is all very, very mysterious. We all know how amazing Zac's team is though at getting him on the right covers and shows.

I also hope that the journalist did not just accidentally misread the date for the TIFF premiere as 2009 instead of 2008. That kind of thing has happened before. :/

As per usual, wait and see :D

Third thing got kind of long so I put it under a cut:

3) Perez

I've said some of this before elsewhere, so sorry if it sounds overly familiar, lol.

I don't really care that much about or for Perez. I think he's childish, confused, hypocritical and not even that good at blogging anymore.

But I do understand why Zac doesn't bitch him out for being a jerk about Vanessa.

I know it seems like maybe Zac should do the chivalrous thing and stand up for Vanessa but what would it achieve? You have to pick your battles and this isn't a good one. And as to Zac sending Perez champagne on his birthday... there is something to be said for keeping your enemies closer and also killing someone with kindness.

Complaining will not make Perez change his ways. And Zac cannot stop every single critic of Vanessa around the world from bitching about her. She's made a decision to be in the business and she has to be able to handle the bitchy and/or jealous gossips. Let's not forgot that she can stand up for herself if she really feels a need.

Also, a lot of normal people get frustrated when celebrities complain. When people are homeless and jobless, have no retirement or healthcare, some wealthy, beautiful young actress complaining about an over-grown man-child drawing an x through her face seems really fucking lame. In other words, her life could be a lot worse. And I guarantee that people would use Vanessa or Zac, on her behalf, complaining as ammo against them, multiplying the problem.

Does this make it fair? Absolutely not, we are all just humans after all and nobody really deserves what Perez does.

But that is how media and culture work right now. Yes, Perez might have the widest reach and it might be great to shut him up. But he's not alone in being unfairly bitchy to someone who's just trying to get through life and be successful at what they like to do.

Rational people realize too that what he says is bullshit. It's like the ontd troll tbh. In the end, the best defense against her accusations was just letting her run her mouth off... her own words illustrated what a crazy and irrational person she was. (Though I would never send her Cristal for her birthday lol).

All that said, when you expect everyone else to bear the brunt of your jokes endlessly, but you cannot take a harmless joke against you... you really need to lighten the fuck up or gtfo.

From his website and the upcoming interview in EW:

On the Funny or Die spoof, featuring Breckin Meyer and Zac Efron, of our post-will.i.am encounter video post:

“It was funny, but at the same time it was making fun of a violent attack. I wasn’t hurt but I was surprised because I’ve been nothing but glowing about Zac Efron. Maybe I was hurt a little, yeah.”

Just like I said about Vanessa needing to be able to handle the critics, Perez needs to also. But clearly he cannot, and whereas Vanessa and Zac come off as taking the higher road, Perez just sounds like a whiny bitch.

He really is delusional too if he believes Zac has no reason to take part in a spoof against him.

and two pics for fun:

I've been also wondering which magazine it could be for. He's been on most mags which have males on it already (and typically they don't repeat that soon). The ones left I can think of right now would be Esquire, Nylon Guys, Parade, Men's Health and Men's Fitness. Or perhaps a UK magazine as I mentioned.

Here is another tweet from someone regarding the shoot about pulling shoes... another "confirmation".

As I've said on FF, I don't give that comment from James much credibility. Personally, I expect the release date to be more likely moved back to November instead of move up to September. With Zac shooting in Vancouver he would have a hard time promoting it (even if promotion is small). But that's just spec.

Perez is a hypocritical scumbag and it doesn't surprise me at all that he can't even take a small joke without being butthurt. I wouldn't be surprised at all if his "reporting" turns more negative towards Zac now. Not immediately because even Perez knows people would call him out on that but slowly. The second Zac does something which he could be critizised for, I expect him to jump on that. Thankfully, a lot more people are seeing Perez now for what he is and I hope that his was the start of him losing cloud. And I totally agree with your comments on keeping your enemy closer etc.

i've added that twitter.

vanity fair? but if they have rob's pics for november already you'd think they'd have sept/october mags done. (but maybe his shoot time was coordinated with his time in new york).

all the twitterers seem to be in new york. not that means it will be shot in new york, but just something to note.

so i don't think the september date is reliable at all. i do think the journalist misread the tiff info since we've heard more about october, and like you said, zac is tied up with filming for sure then. wait and see. :)

I think Vanity Fair is too big for this promotion; not likely in my opinion. I see EW more likely than VF if it's a repeat.

I don't know if there are any theater oriented mags - those would be a great fit for the movie but I'm not sure if those magazines are big enough to spent that much money (it seems not to be a totally simple shoot considering the companies involved and all the tweets we get)

I've seen that they are all in NYC. He might be going there but imo that doesn't mean he already has to be on the east coast (he could but he doesn't have to). Or, it's all sent to LA and done there as you said, idk.

i think so too... but none of this makes any sense at this point, lol, so i might as well think as big as possible.

Another idea... M&OW takes place in NYC. How about a NY magazine? The New Yorker, NY Magazine, Time Out NY...
IceGoddess: dirty little secret you're so damn addicccmskatechick on July 9th, 2009 07:07 pm (UTC)
Wouldn't be the New Yorker - they don't put real people on their covers it's strictly illustrations only. Out of all those - NY Mag would be the strongest possibility.

Thanks. I'm not that familiar with all the mags. :)

No worries - it's what I do for a living ;)

If they're doing this shoot in july - the earliest cover it could possibly be is October. September books are starting to get wound down and completed.

All things I'm hearing out this way is yes, that the shoot is in NY and I've gotten clammorings of where it's taking place but nothing solid as of yet. I need to nudge my one buddy to see if I can get any more out of him.

Double on this. Everything September has been shot and most big-named October stuff too....CURIOUSER AND CURIOUSER (though like you, C, I assume it's MAOW-related.)
IceGoddess: heylo there dirty lil secretccmskatechick on July 9th, 2009 07:57 pm (UTC)
If they *really* wanted him for an Oct cover b/c of MAOW - those books are starting to get wrapped up but not finalized and they could very easily have things swapped around.

I know Rodale (Men's Health) pubs run on a shorter lead time than something from Conde Nast or Hearst since they're on a 'tighter' string $ wise. Indie pubs that aren't in big houses like that (NY Mag) are on a whole different time frame.

Oh oh, I just saw your comment above about this being what you do! SO COOL, MAN. AWESOME JOB! The only reason I know anything is years of fashion and celebrity obsession but those two run on different timelines as it is.

Thanks for all the info. Question: are you talking about October covers (which afaik come out typically in September) or covers coming out in October (which are typically November covers)?
Bee: Zac - Rolling Stone Close-upjeezbee on July 10th, 2009 05:15 am (UTC)
Here are two more ideas:

Vman - the winter issue comes out 29 October. Depending on the movie's release date that could be an option. They are very fashion oriented and NY based. And going by past covers absolutely a possibility for Zac (they had even Chace once).

And if we're shooting really high, W magazine also puts males on the cover but I think this is similarly out of reach as VF this time around.
Bee: Zac - People Sex - Flipped Collar 1jeezbee on July 9th, 2009 05:33 pm (UTC)
Also, if it's a monthly magazine the shoot would most likely be too late for a September release imo.
