There are some other pics of them conversing sociably with Harvey so as I'd expect, Zac knows how to play nice with the dude who sends papz after him.

i haven't seen it yet, not because of the tweens but because i really don't have anyone who would want to go see it. my family knows about my freakish high school musical obsession and when we were all watching TV last weekend, the commercial for 17 again came on and they were all "DON'T EVEN..." lol :-/ maybe next weekend!

they should play up the LOTR/SW parts in the trailer... maybe they could bring in more people to the theatres.

Has anyone seen a #1 movie in the country tv spot yet?

well I hope they continue promotion.

and im mad there is no new EW this week. Last weeks' was a double issue.

ha ha it's less about being close-minded about zefron and more about not being into cute comedies starring cute guys. my parents like stuff like james bond and bourne identity movies, or corset dramas, etc. the kiddo likes hsm, but has no interest in the plot. plus it is pg-13 and i wasn't sure if there was anything inappropriate in it.

i'm making this so you have to highlight it... just in case you don't want to read it cause it kind of has spoilers but here is what might be objectionable:

they do swear once or twice... i think ass and bitch are said. zac's character confronts the bully and calls him a dick and a says he has a small weiner. and there is a sex ed scene where the teacher is handing out condoms but mike o'donnell promotes abstinence. there is slapping (plus the lightsaber scene) for violence. and some slight squickiness in the back to the future kind of way though young kids probably don't get that.

overall nothing in it i think is that bad but i wouldn't take my nieces (5 and 7). i might show it to them at home on dvd, i just think they'd have too many questions and/or be bored in a theater. my main concern at that age is the inappropriate language but it isn't that bad and they both already know some words are inappropriate for them and not to use them.

i was telling jeezbee that it amuses me that channing tatum's new movie fighting also has a pg-13 when they are sooo different. fight scenes are far more objectionable to me for my nieces than anything in 17 again.

Eeee, yeah, that wouldn't fly for me and the kiddo. I actually don't mind fighting/action in a film as long as it is bloodless or nearly so, because he's old enough to understand that's not how we handle conflict and that it's all for comedy or effect (he is nearly 12... lol I had him pretty young). However, at his age I think he's far more likely to internalize teenage representations of behavior/sexuality/ etc. and he actually doesn't like things with a lot of swearing. Also I think the main gist of the movie, that even a life filled with compromises and regrets is worth living and improving upon and that giving in to discouragement can be self-sabotaging, would be totally lost on an 11yo boy. And none of my friends IRL want to see it either, wah. lol. I've decided I'm going to talk my mom into taking the Shorty to see the Hannah Montana movie while I see 17 Again in another theater at the same time. I have childcare AND I don't have to see HM! Win-win!

lol. good plan.

i wonder if my nieces went to hannah montana. i doubt it. they don't really care about hannah montana that much. just hsm.

i think shorty has a crush on miley. :[ lol she's very cute and frankly it's inevitable, her presence permeates children's media so thoroughly.

shorty likes hsm too (not as much as i do, admittedly) though he has perceived that although part of the message of the film is that it's okay for boys to like musicals, ALL of the merchandising and promotion was geared for girls and we are very much in the EW THAT'S FOR GIRLS stage of things, so he has shied away from hsm quite a bit. a year or so ago he wanted a t-shirt of hsm2 and we couldn't find a single one that wasn't pink and sparkly - and this is south florida with disney everywhere. i had to buy a plain ehs wildcats black t-shirt for him off eBay. :x
