It was an unlikely meeting of minds that occurred on Sunday night at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. American rock 'n' roll group the Kings of Leon went up against Hollywood heart-throb Zac Efron in a superstar game of poker!
Both Zac and the Kings' had been staying at the Crown Towers luxury hotel at the Casino and decided to place some bets against each other.
take40.com asked Zac about it on the red carpet at the premiere of his new movie '17 Again' at Melbourne's Jam Factory - amid screams from hundreds of teenage girls.
"Yeah, we had a little game last night," he told take40.com.
So who won?
"Well you know [Australian poker champion] Joe Hachem was at the table so who do you think won?"
From the Herald Sun:
ZAC Efron was playing with the big kids when he took on US rockers Kings of Leon and world poker champion Joe Hachem at the poker tables at Crown on Sunday night.
Efron proved he was no slouch with the cards, emerging victorious after several hours of playing.
The game got under way at Crown after Efron's appearance on Rove and wound up about 3am on Monday.
"He is pumped. He wants to have another crack, but I would not have the heart to beat him," Hachem said yesterday.
"I think he (Efron) was probably the most seasoned player of all of them, even though he was the youngest.
"I think he has won one or two small tournaments in LA.
"We were only playing for fun money, but it is the competition that counts."
Hachem met Efron backstage at the Kings of Leon show at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday.
The Kings -- brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill -- are keen poker players and have pitted their wits against Hachem several times during their time in Melbourne.
