OMG! Calculating distance to Austin, as we speak.
Linklater’s new film to screen at SXSW
By Chris Garcia | Saturday, March 14, 2009, 01:45 PM

The “Super Special Screening,” we hear, slated for 11 a.m. Monday at the Paramount is Richard Linklater’s “Me and Orson Welles,” starring Zac Efron and Claire Danes. Look out for the official announcement.

The movie did well at the annual Toronto film fest last year and received upbeat reviews. It’s still looking for a distributor.

OMG. Seriously how do I get tickets?

i'm pretty sure that the success/failure of 17 Again is a big factor too. sure zac is a big name right now and appears to be bankable, but with only Hairspray (supporting role in a large, likeable cast) and HSM (fueled by Disney alone, not necessarily any of the actors) under his belt, it makes sense to play the wait and see game.

it certainly won't hurt them if they do. so pretty smart for the distributors, even if it makes us sad for having to wait.

but yeah, it is frustrating walking past all the other tiff films that are already at blockbuster.

We fans have all the faith in the world-although, stepping outside of that 'fandom', there's still strong indication that he is on an uphill rise in popularity, marketability, and profitability.

HSM comes with a built-in fanbase and as mikeodonnell stated, it was fueled by an unsinkable engine like Disney- not necessarily 'huge' actors.

I can't help but assume success with "17 Again" will only help further the distribution process along.
