I read some reviews of “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates”, apparently the movie is mostly pleasing, although I respect some of the bad reviews (like the one of Vincent Mancini or Todd McCarthy), some of them just feels like an empty attempt to be mean (with Zac or with everyone involved), I read a review that said Adam and Zac looks the same and acts the same, even if everyone said Adam acts more like a clown (and it’s visible even in the trailer) and their characters are very different

I mean: some of these bad reviews just looks like they was already made before the critic watched the movie

If I were egocentric and narcissistic I would think Zac was trolling me with that kettle bell. Next thing you know he'll be using those stretchy bands with his thigh master...

PS: LOVE the hair. I think I'm just into boys with bangs...

I was at the first showing (7 p.m.) of Mike and Dave in Thursday previews, and I can report that it's worth seeing. Not Oscar bait, but a good raunchy comedy. I was one of 15 people in the theater, which is a good turn-out for an early Thursday evening preview in this area, so I suspect this movie will do OK at the box office.

Interestingly, Zac is not really the primary male lead. Adam plays the crazier role and gets most of the big laughs. Zac plays the calmer, more sensible brother, which means he doesn't stand out as much. Zac is shirtless in only one scene--this is no Dirty Grandpa or even That Awkward Moment, no toilet humping or crotch puppets.

Now the unendurable ten months until Baywatch next May. Ugh.

Supporting my own guesstimate, Box Office Mojo reports:

Fox's Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates also had a strong Thursday night session, delivering $1.6 million from approximately 2,560 theaters. This is an improvement over the $660,000 Dirty Grandpa delivered on Thursday night earlier this year and just behind the $1.67 million Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising brought in back in May before opening with $21.7 million. Thursday's numbers suggest Mike and Dave is already on its way to surging past Mojo's forecast below as an opening over $15 million seems a strong possibility at this point if not higher.

I do hope it continues beating expectations but I'm still concerned about it being front-loaded. No one seems quite to know what to expect as estimates still range from $16-18 million.

I saw it and the theater was full (a smaller theater, 140 seats maybe) but not full of, like, Zac fans lol. What was really interesting was that when I was looking at reserving my seat about two hours before the show no seats were sold yet. So in two hours it filled up. That's a good sign, imho.
