All in all, it's been a great summer.

Neighbors was a smashing hit, reviving Zac's career, and Joe Gauthreaux's "Bye Felicia" is sitting fat and happy at #5 on the Billboard Dance Club chart. Success for both my bb's.

And then there's Zac looking so cute in these photos that suddenly I feel like this:

Then there's what didn't happen this summer. I was startled last evening to see a promo spot for "This Is Where We Leave You," opening September 19. So after whatever happened, the production went ahead, but with a new cast.

I didn't realize Zac was being considered for a part in that movie. Oh well, and the beat goes on.

Here's some bit-o-fiction I just read that should cheer you up. It's so preposterous that I actually started laughing: "I wouldn't be surprised if Cara and Michelle are hooking up again ...,” the insider claimed. “Cara doesn't party in the same way that Zac does. Part of the reason that Michelle and Zac broke up was because she couldn't handle his partying."

It's okay to belly-chuckle at this one.

Yes, two years ago we were pretty happy that he was "attached" to this project. Then, something happened and both Zac and director Adam Shankman wandered away. Here's a clip from the post for July 10, 2012:

"In less positive news, I'm a little concerned about This is Where I Leave You. Last we saw, Adam was scouting locations a month ago. In the meantime though, Rock of Ages underwhelmed both financially and critically. And Jason Bateman tweeted on July 10th that filming of Arrested Development "starts in four weeks" which to me indicates he'll be busy filming that in the fall, overlapping the intended filming period for TIWILY. Further Adam has said nothing and responds to no questions about the project, which is unusual for him, and I haven't seen any production info popping up on any of the databases. So it seems like something fell apart somewhere along the way."

I think Adam and Zac's relationship fell apart.

I swear, I should've been a fortune teller. I'd have made more money and would have had to put up with a lot less bunk.

I have no inside information, but I would guess just the opposite - they cut Adam Shankman and Zac withdrew out of loyalty.

Or, anything else might have happened. If the financing fell through, it could have put everything up in the air - director, cast, etc., and the affected individuals moved on and weren't available to re-sign, or didn't want to, whatever.

They cut Adam as director so the cast that Adam recommended didn't stay since Adam wasn't attached anymore.

How do you cut out a director? Isn't that like firing management? Does this happen often? I know actors get dropped by directors but who drops the director?

It happens all the time..i.e. Marvel taking Ant Man from Edgar Wright.

Directors are just employees, like the actors. It's the people providing the money (usually identified as executive producers) and the studio suits (production, marketing) who can stop or alter a project.

Why does the guy with the shaved head get to hug Zac, while the rest of us are totally ignored?

It makes me doubt the fairness of life.
countessm3countessm3 on August 29th, 2014 04:00 pm (UTC)
To be honest, if I hugged Zac they'd have to pry my cold, dead arms from around him - and surgically remove my hands from his ass. (-:

The first pic is endearing. The others aren't too bad either though.
