Date for 'Townies'
Or whatever it's called...

This is a great date and it sounds like they have a lot of confidence to put it there.

And now can we please have the trailer for Parkland. Like really, stop being such a tease @ExclusiveEMG.

I think this date could work because there hasn't been any R-rated comedy in the couple weeks leading up to it (as of now). It's sandwitched between Spider-Man 2 and Gozilla which is tough but there are no easy dates, esp not in May.

I like that the date has been set after Uni has seen a first rough draft, so I think it should be (hopefully) decent. If it weren't promising, they would have put it elsewhere not at the beginning of movie summer season.

I love that they are gonna release Townies before 22 Jump Street. :D But I'm not sure about the May 9 date because two more comedies open on that date. Three comedies competing with one another on the same weekend? What are they thinking???

Tyler Perry is really a completely different demographic and even Chef is different although there might be a small overlap. Demo-wise they are competing with the blockbusters more than with any other comedy. Sure, I would prefer if they moved Chef (and perhaps they do) and while the movie will still open behind Spider-Man 2 at the bo at least it will have the public attention somewhat that weekend which wouldn't happen the week before or after.

IA, that it's not ~perfect~ but all dates until fall are already busy since they hadn't set any until now and I had looked a while ago - there is really not a particularly great date left with "doable" competition.

Also, some stuff will certainly move by early 2014 so who knows what the situation will be by then. Perhaps some of the movies on or around the date move away or something else opens up and this movie goes there.... I'm just glad for now that they set a date and don't have the movie sitting on the shelf. And they set a decent date (early summer season) vs a dump date (like late August) which hopefully means they see promise.

I'm ok with this date and hope it will get better by something moving away. I really like that as of now there are no comparable comedies beforehand for an eternity (like all of 2014) so the market should be starved at this point. There is The Other Woman 2 weeks beforehand but this clearly strikes me as romcom and even Walk of Shame which is r-rated is romcom-ish from what I understand and it's mid March. I guess I should check if there are any wrapped but unscheduled comedies left which might get a date before this movie but if it stays this way, it would be a major benefit to be first out of the gate even with 2 other comedies on the same weekend.

I feel like a Spring/early-Summer date would work best with this movie fore sure. Does anyone else know what other movies exactly are playing that weekend?

According to boxofficemojo (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/) Chef (directed by Jon Favreau, starring Robert Downey Jr., Scarlet Johansson, etc) and Tyler Perry's Single Mom's Club open on that weekend.

The Tyler Perry movie is the only one I see as competition cause those movies draw huge crowds. Chef not so much, maybe. But besides the Tyler Perry movie, it's looking pretty good release date wise.

Nine months is a long time; some of you guys could have Zac's baby in that time.

As noted, dates have been known to change. But I do like the sign of confidence. Go for it, Universal! Damn the torpedoes!

Speaking of changing dates, in my recent experience, At Any Price was scheduled to play the local art theater on like one of the final weeks of the national release. I was all set to go, took a shower and everything. Then I went online to find out the show times and discovered the theater had pushed it back a week. So I waited seven long days, took another shower, and the theater pushed it back ANOTHER week. I was afraid they weren't going to show it at all, but they finally came through. What a relief.

i ended up going to AAP at a further away theater because i did not trust that it would end up at our local (despite the supposed schedule saying it would). i'm glad i did, cause it never did come here lol.

I miss your posts on ONTD!

Random question, but do you know any sites that identify the actual brand/style clothing Zac has been seen wearing? I was watching Liberal Arts the other day and my boyfriend really liked his hoodie and style in that movie, wondering if I could find it somewhere!

i miss posting on ontd, sort of, lol. ontd is so different now, idk if it would be as fun anymore.

coolspotters used to have lots of stuff on him (here) but idt they have that info on liberal arts. the style looks like a lightweight baja hoodie/jacket though... the trick would be finding that color combo or even a subtle one at all, lol. something maybe like this or this.

I agree, I don't frequent as often...too much oversensitivity there for my liking now. I think people would be warmer to Zac now, though. I remember the ~summer of Zac~ and people were so mean, lol.

Thanks for the help! Yeah, I thought the same and was searching for a lightweight baja hoodie all day and don't know how I didn't stumble upon the Buckle link you sent, I ordered it! You are a Goddess with all Zac related sources, lol. Thanks again <3
